Le Rideau RougePrelude et petite Chaconne for Chamber Ensemble
McAlister, Clark
Clark McASlister is a passionate Francophile, devoted to its language, art, literature and culture, its music particularly...
He describes Le Rideau Rouge (The Red Curtain) as being modelled on the French Baroque overture. Yet it strikes the ear as 100% American: direct, free of artiness or artifice, sure of where it's going. The scoring might be accused of Gallic polish, but professionalism is as much an American virtue as European.
Scoring: Flute doubling Piccolo, Oboe doubling Cor Anglais, Clarinet, Bassoon, Horn, String Quartet and Double Bass.
