Binney, Malcolm

The Roman festival 'Saturnalia' is a time of unrestrained merrymaking", though the work is rather more than the romp its title suggests. For all its undeniable high-spirits and brilliant instrumental writing, the carefully worked-out form gives it real thrust and pace. Immediatley appealing, it is a work you can play and hear again and again.
