Connor, Bill

"Like a Mahler Symphony for Winds" is how a leading band director described this piece. The score is extremely cleverly conceived and executed, with the numerous ‘repiano’ lines to provide less expert players with a satisfying musical experience and bring a substantial, moving work within the scope of the widest range of technical ability. The language is heavily romantic and ironic, the score shot through with Connor's brilliant 'coups d'imagination'. Large forces are an advantage.
